Who Is Bafana’s New Coach Broos

The South African Football Association (SAFA) today unveiled Bafana Bafana’s New Head Coach in the form of Hugo Broos at the headquarters of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) in Johannesburg. The Beautiful Game takes you through the profile of Broos;

•Hugo was born and bred in Belgium some sixty-nine (69) years ago (10 April 1952).

•Broos made his professional debut as a footballer as a fresh-faced 18-year-old for Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht between 1970 and 1983, where he went on and played for thirteen years, lifting national League titles.

•The Belgian retired from professional football after a highly successful footballing career that spanned eighteen (18) years.

•His first managerial role came in 1988 for Molenbeek, which was dissolved and later returned with a different name.

•Broos’ only international career was in 2016 when Cameroon brought him as the men’s Senior national team gaffer, subsequently lifting the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. The Belgian left his post after one year as the Head Coach of The Indomitable Lions.

•Today, just after 13:05pm, the 69-year-old was confirmed as Bafana’s new Head Coach on a five-year-deal, with the announcement being made concurrent at the Press Conference and through the popular application Zoom by the Association.
