McCarthy Gracious In Defeat

AmaZulu FC were dumped out of the Nedbank Cup after a losing by a professional 1-0 scoreline against Black Leopards in Thohoyandau Stadium yesterday.
Usuthu’s head coach Benni McCarthy paid tribute to his opposition before explaining how they lost to Lidhoda Duvha, saying;
“It was opportunity for us to play a very good team, Black Leopards is also fighting a battle there at the bottom of the league, and they got a very good result against Arrows (their previous match in the league), so they were looking to continue that form.
“But for us, we didn’t take the Nedbank Cup any lighter, we wanted to win. We put up a really, really strong team, where we thought we’d cause a major upset, and it proved that had we taken our chances in the first half, it could’ve been a different outcome.
“A lot of the players who were on the pitch today, they weren’t 100% sharp because they haven’t played for a long time. If we hard sharper players, players who play week-in-week-out, it could’ve been a different story,” concluded McCarthy
McCarthy and his charges will now have to put all their focus in the league where they host SuperSport United on Tuesday afternoon.
