Elephants Set To Clash In Tshwane, Grass To Suffer!

Posted: 23 January 2021

Its first versus second, it’s Pretoria versus Soweto, it’s the three wise men versus one, it’s the boys from Mamelodi versus the Beautiful Birds of Dube, it’s the piano and shoeshine type of football versus direct football, it’s Mamelodi Sundowns FC vs. Moroka Swallows Football Club.

The two clubs are level on points, both on twenty six (26), their only separated by a superior goal difference, this is no ordinary clash, it is the most anticipated match this season yet.

KEY PLAYERS: SUNDOWNS

Themba Zwane;

Mshishi has matured in recent seasons, he has become one of the most trusted footballers at the club. Zwane is now a complete creative midfielder; scores goals, makes goals, dictates play, he is more of a conductor of their shoeshine football. Swallows will need to keep him quiet if they are to get any point this afternoon.

Peter Shalulile;

Shalulile is a runner, a rare breed that keeps an entire back four busy on his own, a striker of note, disciplined on the pitch but a punisher as well. The Dube Birds will have to be on a proper shift here.

KEY PLAYERS: SWALLOWS:

Ruzeigh Gamildien;

Gamildien has shown that experience cannot be bought; times his runs to perfection, scores almost at will, runs behind defenders, holds up play brilliantly, a return of ten goals thus far, Brian Onyango and co will have to be up for it.

Tlakusane Mthetwa;

Mthetwa is one of the longest-serving players at the club. The Rabie-Ridge star is now a cognitive cog in that Swallows team; reads the game well, intercepts build-ups, keeps it clean with his simple passes, the Sundowns party-starters will not have it easy this afternoon with this guy in the centre of midfield.

This is a fixture that we are all anticipating with bated breath, who will blink? That will be answered by 16:45pm, the game is live on pay-television and the national broadcaster, with kickoff scheduled for 15:H00.
