Newly-promoted team Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker has commented on the loss of star midfielder Nkanyiso Zungu’s move to Orlando Pirates. Zungu, who helped Stellies gain promotion to the top-division last season, earned himself a dream move to Soweto giants The Buccaneers. His former coach Barker observed the loss of Zungu, saying;

“He (Zungu) was massive for our club in the NFD (National First Division) promotion season, he practically played in every match that he was available and was huge for us. He was also huge for us in the first part of the season; he showed his quality as a PSL player, so yes, he is a massive loss.

However, at the same time, it is a great opportunity for him and Pirates is his boyhood club and it’s a club he always wanted to play for and we are delighted that we created that platform for him to showcase his talent”, concluded Barker.

Stellenbosch are currently three points shy of the 30-point safety mark and with three more home games left for them, their almost certain to remain in the league next season.
