The South African tournament of dreams is back, bigger and sets to be better.

The Nedbank Cup is a tourney that sets up the David’s with the Goliath’s, there is no if’s, buts or maybes – it’s either you in the hat for the next Match-day round or you not.

Big boys such as Mamelodi Sundowns FC, Orlando Pirates Football Club, Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United, Cape Town City – they all lick their lips in anticipation of a ‘easier’ draw, whilst the unfancied sides from the GladAfrica Championship and the ABC Motsepe League want to prove their worth.

Baroka FC, Maluti FC, TUKS FC are some of the ‘lesser’ clubs that have returned to their respective homes with big sculpts in the past – this is a case of ‘undermine us at your own peril’ type of tournament.

The draw of the Nedbank Cup will be live from the PSL headquarters in Parktown, Johannesburg on Friday, with only the GladAfrica Championship sides set to be in the hat before the indomitable giants of South African football join in at the latter stages.
