Mnqithi Lauds Downs’ Striker

Reigning DSTV Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC continue to sweep those before them after a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Marumo Gallants in Polokwane yesterday evening.

The goals came from three different scorers, and new Sundowns’ forward Pavol Sanfranko was on the scoresheet. The Beautiful Game asked Co-Head Coach Manqoba Mnqithi on the striker’s importance to the Brazilians, and he said to us;

“We believe Sanfranko has goals in him, he is still going to help us. He is gaining confidence; in the first half, he created a very good chance for Neo Maema, and that could have been a very good assist.

“We are very happy with the progress he is making in the team, and for a player like him, it’s not only about scoring, it’s about the work ethic that he puts in and makes sure that he helps us in our defensive strategies and our defensive schemes.

“He is very important in that space and we know on set-pieces he is a big factor – both offensively and defensively and believe me, he also has something to give us behind the defence,” he concluded.

Sundowns sit pretty on top of the log standings with a near-perfect start; nine games played, eight victories and a single draw, with no goals conceded.
