Baxter: He Was Frustrated

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs FC were humbled 3-0 by Ah Ahly SC of Egypt to lift their tenth (10th) CAF Champions League title yesterday evening in Morocco.

However, the game was marred by Happy Mashiane’s red card just before half-time. The Beautiful Game asked Head Coach Stuart William Baxter for his thoughts on Happy’s sending off, and he said to us;

“I think you are right…the frustration grew with Happy. We got him into the game early on, into situations where we think he is good and he got the ball get away from him and I think that frustrated him.

“And then he got smacked a couple of times and that frustrated him. The fact that he was chasing the ball late into the half, that was frustrating, all of that boiled over for him and I think he gave an unnecessary freekick.

“It wasn’t necessary for him to go in that hard in that area of the field but the young lad…the frustration boiled over and it’s correct what you’re saying that it got to a point where he wanted to give back what he has been getting. He is disappointed I’m sure, but he will learn from it,” concluded Baxter.

The Tembisa-born midfielder was visibly distraught after the game as the club’s Marketing Director, Jessica Motuang tried to console the left-footed winger.
