EXCLUSIVE: Matlaba-Swallows Contract Details

Moroka Swallows FC, now known as Swallows FC due to legalities that will soon be ironed out, yesterday confirmed the signing of Thabo Matlaba on a Bosman.

The Beautiful Game can exclusively reveal that the 32-year-old defender has signed a two-year-deal with a further option of 12 months based on a couple of clauses inserted in his contract.

One of the clauses in the contract, stipulates that “Festival” should play a number of games in the 2020/2021 season, which will then automatically activate the added one year option.

However, the Tembisa-born wing-back will also be allowed to leave the Dube Birds should the club be relegated to the GladAfrica Championship in May 2021.

Swallows have reinforced themselves in the off-season and the experience and addition of Matlaba will help the club remain in the riches of the now-called DSTV Premiership.
