‘It Was A Satisfactory Trip’

‘It Was A Satisfactory Trip’

African club giants Mamelodi Sundowns FC returned from Cairo, Egypt yesterday after spending just under a fortnight in the Arab country.

The Brazilians returned with four points from a possible six after a historic win against Al Ahly SC and a draw with the less-fancied Al Merrikh.

Sundowns’ Co-Head Coach, Rhulani Mokwena reflects on their football excursion, saying;

“Well speaking after the trip, I think we can say it was a satisfactory trip, but we are not entirely happy. We always want to improve, but if you look at it, we went and we wanted six points, but we only got four.

“We had other objectives, like to put the team together, to try and improve a little bit on the technical and tactical things in regards to preparing for the two different opponents.

“We also tried to work on our conditioning, particularly for the players who have been playing but not getting a lot of gametime – players who are returning from injury, like Mosa (Lebusa) and Lebo Maboe. The facilities also helped us a little bit so we are quietly content,” concluded Mokwena.

Mokwena’s troops will now switch focus from the African continent to domestic football where they travel to play against a resurgent TS Galaxy FC on Wednesday evening.
