‘Onyango Is A Big Boy’
Posted: 28 November 2021
High-flyers Sekhukhune United had their wings clipped yesterday afternoon in the capital after being beaten 2-0 against DSTV Premiership reigning Champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC.
However, the game was marred by a red-card to inspirational leader and goalkeeper Denis Onyango, who rounded off a difficult week.
Sekhukhune’s Head Coach, MacDonald Makhubedu had a moment with Onyango when he was sent off, and The Beautiful Game asked the mentor what he shared with the Ugandan, he said to us;
“To Denis I was telling him that he is bigger than what happened on Wednesday Karabo, that’s what I told him. He has played more than five hundred (500) games in his career, he is a big boy and he is bigger than what happened on Wednesday.
“Sometimes, it’s good to have such performances, that’s what I told him. And the red card also, it was just words of encouragement and that Ugandans are still proud of him. Sundowns family also loves him, and South Africans who see him as a big boy, so he is bigger than what’s happening around him.
“I was telling him that he has a very good support structure around him at Sundowns; the technical team, the management, so he is bigger than that and he will recover,” concluded MacDonald Makhubedu
The experienced shot-stopper will be out of two games serving his suspension, but with the cream The Brazilians have in their locker, Onyango won’t be missed as thought.
