Reigning DSTV Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC continued their fine form in the league after a hard-fought 1-0 win against Maritzburg United yesterday evening.

The Brazilians have not conceded a goal in seven hundred and twenty (720) minutes, becoming the first side to reach that milestone in South African football history.

The Beautiful Game asked Co-Head Coach Rhulani Mokwena of their secret, if any, and he said to us;

“Ja Karabo, it’s a simple thing; I say this all the time, the game belongs to the players, and their the ones that play their the ones that run, their the ones that work extremely hard in preparing for the match and their the ones that sit for hours doing the corrections.

“They sit for hours analysing the opposition and they take their careers very seriously so everything that you see is as a result of the profile and the hard work of these amazing football players.

“I don’t think even as a country, as a football nation, we give them the praise and the credit that they deserve, you know. Their disciplined, their committed, their extremely focused. You can see in today’s match, it’s very easy to just turn up and go through the emotions after winning the final but they come and perform,” concluded Mokwena.

Sundowns top the PSL standings with twenty two (22) points from eight games and have also played a game less.
