Mokwena Extols AJ 15

South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns FC completed a full circle on Saturday evening after lifting the MTN 8 tournament for the first time in it’s era.
The Brazilians beat rivals Cape Town City FC 3-2 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 during regulation time. However, Sundowns’ Andile Jali showed maturity beyond believe when team mate Hasheem Domingo missed his spot kick and AJ 15 was the first to console him.
A couple of moments later, Jali converted his spot kick with so much confidence that one would mistaken it for arrogance. The Beautiful Game asked Co-Head Coach Rhulani Mokwena of Jali’s heroics, and he said to us;
“Yeah…good question Karabo. He (Andile Jali) deserves the cudos, the reality is that we have run out of superlatives to describe AJ’s performance. Infact, not just today but in the last two or three games.
“Andile Jali has been incredible; he gives us…not just the personality in relation to not just what you see in the League, but the leadership, the courage. And it’s very easy to be a leader in good moments, and Andile Jali is a leader in difficult moments.
“Andile Jali is not afraid to stand up and be counted, and those are the type of people you need in your change room, those are the type of players that you need on the pitch. Because, when the going gets tough, Andile Jali is always prepared to be there for the team,” concluded Mokwena.
The Brazilians have now won each and every tournament there has been, including the DStv Premiership title, the MTN 8, the Telkom Knockout and the Nedbank Cup respectively.
