English Premier League giants Arsenal Football Club are set to part ways with one of their midfielders this season.

The Gunners will now allow Uruguayan international Lucas Torriera to depart The Emirates Stadium after manager Mikel Arteta made it clear that he does not form part of his plans.

German side Hertha Berlin were interested in bringing the pint-sized midfielder to the Bundesliga, but Torreira favours a move back to the Italian Serie A.

Arsenal have reached an agreement with Fiorentina CF for their midfield workhorse, with the 25-year-old set to arrive in Florence later this afternoon.

The London side will receive a loan fee of €1.5m for Torreira, we understand both clubs have inserted an obligation to purchase option at the end of the 2021/2022 season.

Lucas has had a torrid time in recent months after losing his mother earlier in the year and failing to hold down a regular starting berth at Atletico Madrid CF last season, where he was on loan. He will be hoping for a fresh start in Italy this summer.
