Ncikazi: We Showed Personality

Orlando Pirates Football Club hosted Western Cape’s Stellenbosch FC in their opening DSTV Premiership match at the Orlando Stadium yesterday afternoon.

The Sea Robbers were able to conjure a draw after Ntsikelelo Nyauza was sent off for allegedly stamping on a Stellies player. Pirates’ Coach, Mandla Ncikazi told the media post-match;

“Tough match as we anticipated, complex and very unfortunate to concede in the first minute, but I thought we exerted ourselves very well after going down 1-0. I thought we were in control after scoring the freekick, and I also thought that it’s a game that we were going to win.

“Unfortunately, we received a red card, and it’s never easy to play ten man, and one must commend the character, the personality and the commitment from our team.

“Going 1-0 down, one man down, it took it’s toll and bad defending maybe in their second goal and the equaliser for the opponents. But having said that, it’s a result we all did not want but still the commitment and effort from our team, that one we cannot question,” concluded Ncikazi.

The Buccaneers travel to Limpopo midweek to face new boys Marumo Gallants, with both sides desperate for maximum points.
