Pirates To Trim Squad

Pirates To Trim Squad
Posted: 28 July 2021

Soweto giants Orlando Pirates Football Club are set to trim their playing squad after their encounter against rivals Kaizer Chiefs FC on Sunday in the Carling Black Label Cup.

The Sea Robbers, who welcomed a few players from their loan spells and made no less than five signings in this window, have a bloated squad. A source close to The Beautiful Game said to us last night;

“The Pirates technical team requested all the players who were on loan to return for pre-season training and camp so they can be reassessed by the club.

“Players like Mthokosizi Dube, Gladwin Shitolo, Chabalala, their all being given an opportunity to impress, and hopefully stay this season. Remember Pirates are going back to Africa this season so they need at least 30 players and at the moment, they have more than that,” concluded our source.

The Beautiful Game understands that The Buccaneers are not yet finished in terms of incomings at the club, and that will only be done when they’ve freed some space ahead of the 2021/2022 season.
