Mthethwa Continues To Impress
Posted: 22 November 2020

Moroka Swallows FC have been punching above their weight in the early stages of the 2020/2021 DSTV Premiership season, and are currently sitting joint-top alongside proper arch-rivals Orlando Pirates Football Club.

Granted, it has been a collective team effort, but one player that has been immaculate is Tlakusane Bafana Mthethwa. The former Maccabi FC midfield enforcer has been in a league of his own this season defensively.

The Rabie-Ridge star, developed by the famous University of Pretoria Academy, has won two man-of-the-match Awards in succession already this season in four outings.

Mthethwa, now a defensive midfielder for The Dube Birds, is doing what most footballers hate; tracking back, intercepting play, reading the game with so much ease and starting attacks deep in his own half. His coach, Brandon Truter, when The Beautiful Game asked about the importance of Tlakusane, said to us;

“Bafana is a big part of this club; he is the type of player that would put his head where others would put their feet. We are happy to have him here with us,” he concluded.

The Birds next face neighbours Kaizer Chiefs in a much-anticipated league clash, and with Mthethwa in such form, he could be the trumpet card for Truter.
