What Next For Ajax?

What Next For Ajax?
Posted: 20 September 2020

Ajax Cape Town will have to be “content” with yet another season in the ever-demanding GladAfrica Championship after they were beaten 2-0 by Black Leopards a couple of days ago.

Jou Lekker Ding, as Ajax is affectionately known in football circles, started the season with absolute top form, almost certain to win the league title without lifting a finger.

However, challenges crept in during midseason when their former coach, Andries Ulderink, left the club due to interferences and decisions taken without his knowledge, at least that is what we have gathered.

Stepped in Calvin Marlin, the club’s former shot-stopper, who had to stabilise the team and work on the mental strength of the lads and make them believe in his philosophy, which the players tried to do and adapt.

The Ikamva-based side will now have to try and shove off interest for the league’s top scorer, Abednego Mosiathlaha, who topped the charts with 16 goals, while Grant Mangerman is set to leave his boyhood club and join La Decima winners, Mamelodi Sundowns for the next campaign.

It looks a dim time if you are an Ajax supporter born and bred, but the hierarchy will have to rebuild a side that is short of confidence at the minute.
