It is exactly eight days since Kaizer Chiefs sacked head coach Ernst Middendorp from the hot seat of Naturena, and the club is still looking to fill in the vacancy.

The Beautiful Game brings you the trail of events between The Phefeni Glamour Boys and Gavin Hunt;

• Talks between the club and Gavin Hunt officially began on Sunday, the 6th of September 2020
• On Tuesday, the club discreetly sacked Ernst Middendorp at around 14:45pm, announcing it 24 hours later
• On the 10th of September, talks stalled due to issues of recruitment of players, the coach bringing in his own backroom staff and his package.
• Over the weekend, the club reaches some form of compromise with Gavin Hunt, but no agreement made.
• The management of the club opens talks with at least three more alternatives, including Benni McCarthy.
• As it stands, we understand Hunt remains the number one target to take over, with Adel Amrouche an alternative should Hunt decline the offer, but he remains the club’s preferred head coach.
