‘Difficult To Assess’ – Tinkler

ABSA Premiership side Maritzburg United are desperate to continue where they left off before the vicious Corona Virus struck the world, however, their head coach Eric Tinkler is adamant that he cannot assess if his squad is ready or not, saying;

“To be very honest with you, it is very difficult to assess if we are ready or not, obviously these are trying times to be out of the game for as long as we were for almost over four months.  Uhm…we’ve only really been back at training for five weeks; it is difficult, especially if you are not playing any friendly games to assess if the players are going to be ready or not.

“But, I am very very happy with what I have seen from the guys in training, but we will truly know if the guys are ready come match-day. Obviously our expectation is to ensure that we continue with the form we showed before lockdown you know, we want to ensure that we get a positive result against (Black) Leopards, because if we do so, we are guaranteed to finish in the top eight,” concluded Tinkler.

The Durban-based club have been brilliant before the pandemic and Tinkler is hoping for the same showing from his players almost five months on when his side face Black Leopards tomorrow (Sunday).
