Posted: 18 July 2020
Cape Town City Chairman and owner John Comitis has revealed that he would love to keep a certain player at the club albeit it will be a costly exercise. Comitis has confirmed that on-loan winger-cum-striker Fagrie Lakay is a player that has made a difference at the club but concedes it will be an expensive expenditure for the club, saying;
“We have an option (to extend his contract) but obviously it is a costly one for us, it is not something we can meet at this time (indicating to the pandemic). So we need to see how it will unfold, we need to see how Wits will treat this situation and we have to respect that he has to go back to them (Bidvest Wits) because he is on a contract there…and a very good one!” concluded Comitis.
The 23-year-old will finish the season with the Citizens and will be hoping to make his loan stay a permanent one in his home province of the Mother City. The club were also the first to training to training in the PSL after meeting all rules and regulations of COVID-19.
