Soweto giants Orlando Pirates Football Club are likely not to lift any silverware in the domestic league this season after losing 5-4 on penalties against Marumo Gallants FC last night at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Gallants have been one of the most in-form clubs in the DSTV Premiership in the last five games and continued their recent revival in recent weeks.

Dan Dance Malesela, former skipper of Pirates, and current Head Coach at Gallants, reacts to the monumental victory, saying;

“Look a very difficult match, it could’ve gone either way during the ninety (90). We tried to play a little bit towards the ninety and during extra time but it could’ve gone either way.

“To be fair and to be honest, they had more chances than we did, some half chances and all that, but we also had our chances you know. We had the most glaring one right at the end of the match which we couldn’t convert.

“But at the end, one appreciates that we were able to win the match, you know, albeit penalties, but doesn’t really matter. We would’ve liked to win it during the ninety minutes and not go to extra time but we appreciate the effort that the boys have put in,” concluded Dan Dance

The Limpopo club are now in the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup and are two points away from confirming their PSL status for the next campaign.
