DSTV Premiership side Maritzburg United pulled a huge number on defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC after surprisingly winning 2-1 against them last night at home.

The defeat was only their second in this campaign for The Brazilians, albeit with shocking officiating from the match day Referee. United’s Head Coach, Ernst Middendorp reacts to the massive three points, saying;

“Let’s say massive three (3) points; our work and challenge in this moment is to come into a better position. We were not expected to get the three points, we were expected to take take points against Golden Arrows here at home last week but sometimes you have ideas but it didn’t work.

“I must say it was a team performance, a lot of hard work, and with luck in certain moments where we could have conceded, we have to be realistic.

“But as you have seen, there is a certain way to play, there is a certain way to set up, I think so far with the hard work and luck in certain moments, we were able to get the three points,” concluded Middendorp.

The victory takes The Team of Choice to twelfth (12th) on the log standings with twenty one (21) points and three more wins will see them remain on this league next season.
