Barker Wary Of Chiefs
Posted: 2 November 2021
DStv Premiership high-flyers Stellenbosch FC travel to Johannesburg this afternoon to face a somewhat resurgent Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium.
Stellies, currently second on the the log standings with sixteen (16) points from eight outings, have started the season on a high but face their biggest test yet this campaign when they face off against AmaKhosi.
The club’s mentor, Steve Barker looks ahead of this momentous fixture, saying;
“I think the quality of our opposition is good. They also have seemed to have turned the corner, and I’m sure the confidence and belief is high, with some of their high-profile players starting to have an impact.
“It’s also our fifth game in nine, you know, it’s not easy to keep traveling, so yeah, it’s going to be a big test but at the same time we’d rather look at it as a big challenge. O think it will be our biggest indicator in terms of where we are as a team, and what we are capable of achieving.
When asked about the form and class of Keagan Dolly, he said;
“I think he is showing the quality that he has and I think everyone knows the talent he possesses so we can’t allow him the freedom and the space, especially in the final third. But it’s not only him, their movement off the ball from the front there is really good, they’ve got good quality midfielders, defensively they are solid, so the quality of the team is starting to show,” concluded Barker.
Three points for Stellies would see them temporarily lead the standings, while a victory for the home side can see them in the top four by 17:H15 this afternoon.
