Germany’s Bielefeld Explain Partnership With Maritzburg United

South African top-flight club Maritzburg United have entered into a record-breaking and beneficial partnership with German Bundesliga side Armenia Bielefeld, with the announcement being made yesterday in KwaZulu Natal just after lunchtime.

Bielefeld’s club Vice President, Maurice Eschweiler, explains to The Beautiful Game why they decided to enter into this monumental agreement, saying to us;

“Mr. Farouk Kadodia, you are the Chairman (of Maritzburg United), thank you very much for these warming words at the beginning and for the warm words for Armenia Bielefeld.

“We are really proud of entering into the cooperation in South Africa with Maritzburg United and if you ask me what is the main reason, what is the background and why we are doing it, and what is the motivation?

“We have to understand the following; what Armenia Bielefeld strongly believes in is that soccer is much more than just sports, soccer connects, soccer connects everything, soccer connects people, soccer connects cultures, soccer connects clubs, and this cooperation is a perfect example of what we strongly believe in.

“So, this is the main reason and why we are so proud to be entering into this cooperation. So Africa in general, but especially South Africa and Maritzburg, you have one big big advantage; you are so young, you have a young population, and this is the main reason why we want enter into this cooperation, especially in education,” he concluded.

The partnership will most certainly help all the academy players at The Team of Choice as well as the entire youth coaches at the club.
