Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs FC has been one of the most consistent clubs in relation to promoting youngsters from their famed youth academy in recent years.
Mduduzi Shabalala is one player that looks set to be the next on the conveyor belt and be drafted into the first team. The 17-year-old has been intentional with his football in the reserve League and the Beautiful Game exclusively asked Arthur Zwane, the club’s Senior Assistant Coach as to when Shabalala will make his senior debut, and he said;
“Look Karabo, we are working towards that (giving Mduduzi Shabalala his debut in the first team) and to be quite honest, we had already made subs at the time.
“If we had an opportunity to bring on another player, we were definitely going to bring on Mduduzi, and he is a player that can give us extra in terms of his one-v-one situations because he is very good at that.
“He is a youngster, we want to give him an opportunity to play but I think he will get his chance in the first team this season,” concluded Zwane.
The gifted midfielder has put in gorgeous performances for the youth side and will taste senior football in the new competition, the DSTV Compact Cup, which kicks off on the twenty second (22nd) of this month.
