Mnqithi Praises New Signing

Reigning DSTV Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC unveiled a couple of new faces in the off-season, and one of those is former Bloemfontein Celtic man Sfiso Ngobeni.

However, the talented fullback is yet to make his debut for the club, nonetheless, Co-Head Coach Manqoba Mnqithi says Ngobeni is a key addition to the squad, exclusively saying to The Beautiful Game;

“Sfiso is a very talented footballer, he is going to be very important for Sundowns’ attack, very very important for Sundowns’ attack because offensively everybody knows what he is capable of.

“Be it that the opposition is compact, be it that the opposition is stretched, he is very useful, one against one he has got something to do, his crossing ability can improve a little bit but he gets into those spaces where he is very dangerous, and he can also score goals in those channels.

“He has got a very good cut-back from him. Defensively he is still finding it a little bit difficult and I will tell you why – many a times at Celtic he was playing as a wingback. He was not playing as a wingback where there are two centre backs and he is expected to fulfil all the duties in the wide channel. But I must say, he is a very good addition to the club,” concluded Mnqithi.

The Mamelodi-born flyer will be desperate to don the colours of his home-town club when club football returns after the international break.
