Donn: I Stayed Patient
Posted: 5 October 2021

DSTV Premiership side SuperSport United have once again produced a decent midfielder in rising star Jesse Donn.

The 22-year-old workhorse has been called to the national team to replace Orlando Pirates Football Club’s Goodman Mosele and Donn has put in man-of-the-mach performances in recent weeks.

Donn tells The Beautiful Game of his recent rise, saying;

“I think it’s easy to think that these rewards happen overnight, and it’s really not the case. You know, I think I’ve spoken a lot about how difficult my first two seasons were at SuperSport and I had to pitch up at training and put in my best and still be put on the bench every weekend.

“So I had to stay patient, work really hard, and I feel like those two seasons of really good patience and keeping a good attitude while waiting, are starting to pay off now.

“So I don’t think there’s something that particularly changed and I also have to give a lot of credit and glory to the Man upstairs you know. I’d love to say it is by my own strength that I won these awards and playing well but really it’s not – He has blessed me with the talent, and although I give my best, he Has always been in control,” concluded the well-spoken youngster.

Donn and his Bafana Bafana team mates will be flying out of the country to Addis Ababa to face Ethiopia on Friday in the 2022 World Cup Qualifying match.
