South African football will never be the same again after the sale of one of the most loved, appreciated, and duly uncompromising club, Bloemfontein Celtic. The club was sold to businesswoman, Miss. Mkhize, who then moved the club to Durban and will operate as Royal AM FC.

The Beautiful Game had an exclusive chat with one of the most loved former footballer of Siwelele, Mark ‘The Professor’ Mayambela, who recalls the emotional chats with charming owner, Dr. Petrus Molemela, saying to us;

“He was a big fan of mine; I respected him so, so much, what he had built in Bloemfontein was something else. We briefly had chats, you know. It was a privilege to meet a giant like him, he was a man who was respected by many in Bloemfontein and in Free State, and surely in South Africa.

“People like him, we owe a lot to, with the sacrifices that he made, the culture and leadership that they brought, and the type of guidance that they gave to us and we live by those teachings today.

When The Beautiful Game asked of the kind of chats he would have with the great man, he said;

“No of course he would advise, you know. He would appreciate the way that I played, he would teach me the culture of the club, what it means to be a Bloemfontein Celtic member (player), what the club means to the people of Bloemfontein, and I think those chats brought me closer to the people of Bloemfontein.

“I mean I got advice from the man who created that, it was a great privilege that I had the opportunity to have met and spoken to him,” concluded an emotional Mayambela.

The left-footed footballer arguably enjoyed his most successful stint at Celtic, where he also made his professional debut for the club at the tender of age twenty one (21).
