Baxter Lauds Commitment

Reigning DSTV Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC scrapped through to the semifinals of the MTN 8 after miraculously winning 2-1 on penalties in the capital yesterday evening.
The Beautiful Game asked Kaizer Chiefs’ Head Coach Stuart William Baxter of his club’s ability to come back from two goals down, and he said to us;
“The players at training have been showing great character, great resolve, and great commitment. And those things…if you do that, you find out that you have persistence and that never say die attitude.
“I think they were disappointed in this game that we opened up so weakly, and we won’t two goals down…I think that disappointed them and it dragged them a little bit to keep pushing, and once we felt we got a foothold on the game, I think they kicked on.
“Is that something that we want to have as a characteristic of Chiefs? Absolutely, absolutely, I’d be disappointed if we don’t, but definitely the lads deserve a pat on the back for their commitment for clawing their way back into the game,” concluded Baxter.
The Brazilians now march on to a two-legged affair with Lamontville Golden Arrows in the semifinal, with the date and time yet to be confirmed by the Premier Soccer League.
