PSL Season Likely To Commence Late

PSL Season Likely To Commence Late
Posted: 26 July 2021

The start of the 2021/2022 DSTV Premiership season is likely to begin late after Royal AM’s Disciplinary Hearing was postponed once again this past weekend.

Royal’s initial Hearing was supposed to be on the 17th of July, however, the club’s lawyers requested for a postponement, which was granted by the PSL’s Prosecutor, Nande Becker.

On Saturday, the 24th of July, Royal’s owner Miss. Mamkhize was not able to attend due to health issues, and the PSL’s Disciplinary Committee granted their postponement after Becker initially declined their request.

The league’s opener is usually on the opening week of August, with the MTN 8 quarterfinals kicking off matters, and a week later, the PSL fixtures taking precedence.

However, with the continued stand off and postponements of the hearing, and Royal AM promising to take this matter to the highest Court, which is the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), it is likely that the upcoming season will be starting later than usual.
