Malinga On Bafana Camp & Future Plans
Posted: 12 July 2021
Moroka Swallows FC winger-cum-striker Kagiso Malinga has been enjoying his rapid rise in recent years with the Dube Birds, so much so that he received his call up for the national team of Bafana Bafana.
Bafana are currently in Port Elizabeth doing duty in the COSAFA Cup tournament, and have so far won two in two.
The left-footed Malinga, when asked about being in camp with the national team, said;
“It’s been great, you know coming here to represent the country and the badge, it’s been great, nothing more. We just need to work and make the nation proud.
On his future plans for both club and country, he said;
“For me, I need to make the nation proud and help the team qualify for the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations, and be in Africa’s top ten (10) finally probably top twenty (20) in the world.
“For now, I want to win the league here in South Africa, then move abroad, probably play for Manchester United FC, I’m a United fan (laughs).
On his all-time favourite footballer, Kagiso responded by saying;
“He just won the Copa America this weekend, the captain of Argentina, Lionel Messi. I like his style of play; he has the heart, the talent, he makes everything tick so…when he has the ball, everything ticks,” concluded the well-spoken Malinga.
Bafana are set to face on Lesotho tomorrow and victory is non-negotiable for the host nation, with Hugo Broos’ side expected to lift the tournament.
