Mothwa On Being Bafana Skipper

South Africa will once again compete in the southern competition of the COSAFA Cup and will be looking at lifting the tournament as hosts once again.
Bafana Bafana stand-in Head Coach, Helman Midnight ‘Express Mkhelele’ has named AmaZulu FC Goalkeeper Veli Mothwa as the skipper in this tournament, with the tall gloves man reacting to the news, saying;
“No, no, I wasn’t expecting this, but I feel good being the captain of Bafana Bafana. It’s going to be a heavy one (in terms of responsibility), and it’s going to be a good one also because being a captain, things are a bit tough, you need to step up and lift the players that you’re playing with.
“And uhm… carrying the nation as a captain, people are looking at you; what are you doing on the field, what are you doing off the field, so being the captain of the nation means a lot to me, but it comes with a lot of work.
When asked about the second camp that is being held in Eastern Cape after the first one in Johannesburg, he said;
“In Johannesburg, there was no wind and it was not cold, but when we came here (Eastern Cape), it seems like we are not in South Africa because the wind is against us, but most of the guys who are playing in the professional league of South Africa, they understand the weather, so I don’t think it’ll be a difficult task to deal with the weather,” he concluded.
Bafana are expected to go all the way and win the tournament as hot-shot favourites with the squad that has been assembled by Helman Mkhelele.
