Former Bafana Bafana international Reneilwe Letsholonyane bid farewell to professional football yesterday after nineteen (19) years playing in the South African Premier Soccer League.
Yeye, as known in and around football, turned out for PJ Stars, Jomo Cosmos, Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United, Highlands Park and TS Galaxy in the top-flight and lifted a couple of league titles and knockout competitions in his glittering career.
Letsholonyane, often soft-spoken, will be remembered for his silky passing skills, movement off the ball and his terrifying partnership he forged with Siphiwe Tshabalala at Naturena during their heydays.
The dreadlocked playmaker hangs up his boots at the age of thirty-nine (39), having won the PSL league title twice, the MTN 8 title thrice, the Telkom knockout twice, the Nedbank Cup twice, and the Carling Black Label Cup once.
Superstar Teko Modise, World Cup scorer Siphiwe Tshabalala, and former PSL Footballer of the Season Lebogang Manyama led in thanking the legendary number six for his enormous contribution in football.
