Chiefs Dare To Dream
Posted: 26 June 2021
South African football giants Kaizer Chiefs FC will today face Moroccan powerhouses Wydad Casablanca in the second leg of the CAF Champions League at the FNB Stadium, with kickoff at 18:H00.
The Phefeni Glamour Boys, who beat Wydad in a shocking result last week away from home, courtesy of Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic, will have to defend the slender lead and be on the offensive as well.
Said Naciri, Wydad’s club President, confirmed midweek that he will gift his players an astronomical €7500, which is equivalent to R125 000, if they beat their opponents this evening.
Therefore, it will no means be a walk in the park of a fixture for Chiefs here, and they’ll need the likes of towering defender Eric “Tower” Mathoho, Daniel Cardoso, Bruce Bvuma to name but a few to be at their sterling best, while Nurkovic and co will also need to capitalise on their opportunities upfront.
Chiefs have never been at this stage in this continental tournament before, and nerves will be jangling, but with the backing of the entire country, Kaizer Motaung’s men can begin to dream of a Champions League final, with Al Ahly SC looking their likely opponents in the final.
The Beautiful Game sends all its support to Kaizer Chiefs FC this evening against a formidable opponent in Wydad.
