PSL To Descent On Royal AM?
Posted: 23 June 2021
The South African Premier Soccer League have a massive job on their hands in regards to GladAfrica Championship side Royal AM Football Club.
The Durban-based side decided not to honour their promotional playoff fixture against Chippa United at home yesterday, subsequently suffering a walkover, handing The Chilli Boys three vital points.
Royal AM arrived at the Chartsworth Stadium some two hours prior to kickoff as standard protocol, however, fifteen minutes before kickoff, the team bus and club bosses drove off and left the arena.
The PSL will now have to decide if a walkover is a sufficient punishment for Royal AM FC, or fine them further to send a strong message to the club.
A walkover has never happened in the history of South African professional football and has sure left the league embarrassed and brought into disrepute. The PSL is expected to release an official statement today in regards to the stunt pulled by Royal AM FC.
