Western Cape side Cape Town City FC appointed Eric Tinkler as the club’s new Head Coach towards the end of the 2020/2021 Season after their separation with Dutchman Jan Olde Riekerink.

The Beautiful Game asked Tinkler of his mandate, and he confidently said;

“Ja I think…I came to the club before, I think this club can achieve more than what it has over the last couple of years. I think the squad that the club has assembled, we should be achieving more.

“I’m ambitious, I want to win things; the modern game has changed, expectations from the club, the media, and the fans is very high – that’s the reality, that’s the reality of a Coach.

“You are judged unfortunately on your last game. My objective? Take the club as high as possible, finish in the top four, that is my target, that is my objective. Do I want to win trophies? Yes I want to win trophies. I’d love to win a league trophy because I haven’t done that yet. Can I do it at Cape Town City FC? That is the objective,” he concluded.

The Cityzens have already roped in former Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Darren Keet, with the club expected to confirm at least four new signings before the start of the season.
