Kaitano On SuperSport United’s 20/21 Season

SuperSport United Head Coach Kaitano Tembo has given his analysis of his club’s 2020/2021 season after a great start, but ultimately running out of steam at the dying embassies of the campaign.
Tembo, who completed his second full season as Head Coach of Matsatsantsa, said;
“Ja I think it’s mixed feelings in terms of how we performed this season. I thought we started very well in the beginning, we collected a lot of points in the first fifteen (15) games, I think we only lost one game, and come the second leg of the season, we wobbled a little bit.
“We lost games that we could’ve win or drew games we should have won, but it’s also due to different reasons as well, you know, with the make up of our squad. We had injuries to our important players; I’m talking about Bradley Grobler, Gabuza as well, and I think when we lost them, we had about twenty one (21) goals between them, which is our bulk of our goals.
“So if you lose that in any team, you are bound to lose points because that’s your source of goals, and for you to win matches, you need to score goals, and we didn’t have that. And at some point, we lost Ronwen Williams, and we didn’t have proper replacements in terms of the same quality.
“But nevertheless, I think we soldiered on because we gave a lot of opportunities to young players, that’s where we saw the emergence of Jesse Donn, seeing him regularly, as well as Keenan Phillips, so we tried,” concluded Tembo.
The capital club finished fifth last season on forty five (45) points, and with Bradley Grobler having committed himself to the club for two more seasons, they’ll be looking at his goals to compete for top honours.
