Reigning DSTV Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC made a telling sweep at the 2020/2021 PSL Awards last night with three of their players walking away with major honours.

The Brazilians closed off their last game of the season with a 3-0 capitulation of Cape Town City FC at the Loftus Versveld Stadium on Saturday, once again proving their class right across the pitch.

Sundowns had three major winners last night at the glittering awards, with shot-stopper Denis Onyango walking away with the Goalkeeper of the Season, Themba Mshishi Zwane picking up the Midfielder of the Season accolade, while new-arrival Peter Shalulile being named the PSL’s Players Player of the Season and the Player of the Season respectively.

Other major winners on the night was AmaZulu FC Head Coach Benni McCarthy, deservingly being awarded the Coach of the Season after guiding Usuthu to their highest-ever spot in the PSL, finishing second and ultimately qualifying for continental football, for the first time in the club’s entire existence.

Baroka FC were also well-represented, with millennium-born Evidence Makgopa named the Young Player of the Season after a breakthrough campaign he had.

The Beautiful Game would like to congratulate all the winners on the night, and hoping to see improved performances from all the sixteen teams in the DSTV Premiership next season.
