PSL’s Final Matchday Preview : 30 of 30 – Permutations
Posted: 5 June 2021

The DSTV Premiership comes to an exciting close this afternoon as all sixteen (16) teams play their final League match of the 2020/2021 campaign.

TOP TWO CONFIRMED;

Mamelodi Sundowns FC wrapped up the title a couple of weeks ago and have another blockbuster of a fixture when they welcome rejuvenated Cape Town City at the Loftus Versveld Stadium, with three points possibly taking the Brazilians to 67 points. However, Eric Tinkler’s side will have something to say about that, with three points taking them to fifth spot.

Amazulu FC have had a brilliant season, having finished second and qualifying for the CAF Champions League ahead of the much-fancied Orlando Pirates Football Club, Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United. Usuthu end their campaign with a derby against Maritzburg United, who still need a point to be overly safe from the promotional playoff spot.

PROMOTIONAL PLAYOFF SPOT;

Chippa United FC currently occupy the dreaded playoff spot, and they welcome an unpredictable SuperSport United who come from a convincing win midweek. The Chilli Boys will have to do their business and hope Stellenbosch FC and Maritzburg United are beaten.

Steve Barker takes his Stellenbosch FC to Lamontville hoping for a big performance from his boys. Stellies have had an inconsistent season and a loss this afternoon against Golden Arrows will see them possibly fighting to stay in this league via the dreaded playoffs.

The Team of Choice look the more safer compared to their playoff rivals Chippa United and Stellenbosch FC, however, a heavy defeat, coupled with good results for their competitors, can still drag Maritzburg United into the promotional quagmire.

TOP EIGHT FIGHT;

Kaizer Chiefs have given themselves a massive opportunity of playing top eight football next season after a come-from-a-behind victory over Lamontville Golden Arrows midweek.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys travel to Mpumalanga desperately looking for maximum points against TS Galaxy FC, who currently occupy the coveted eighth spot.

This is a winner-takes-all clash; Chiefs need nothing but a win to assure themselves of a top-eight finish, while a draw or a win ensures that Owen Da Gama can start planning for next season with the MTN 8 tournament in his mind.

Orlando Pirates Football Club welcome Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivandhila to the Orlando Stadium with three points cementing their third spot and untimely qualifying for the CAF Confederations Cup. It has been an inconsistent season for The Buccaneers, and maximum points can give their demanding supporters something to cheer about in the off-season.
