Middendorp: What I Changed Here

Durban-based DSTV Premiership side Maritzburg United look set to avoid the relegation drop off with only five points needed from their remaining five games of this campaign.
The Beautiful Game exclusively spoke to The Team of Choice Head Coach Ernst Middendorp, who tells us what he has changed at the club, saying;
“Yeah, you must see the season of Maritzburg (United) in general, there was one point in seven games at the start of the season in the account. Then I started going into the assessment of the players in terms of what is available, yeah there has been good players but it didn’t work at all.
“Then the next step was to release the goalkeeper, Keagan Buchanan, Senako, two or three other players and and and…I had to bring different players in, try to bring in the younger players who haven’t really been part of the team, like Hlongwane, and Uhm…good.
“If you see the lineup and comparing to December and January, there are six or seven different players in the starting eleven. I’ve always said that it’s always unusual to build a team during the season, and that is what we are doing and uhm…good. So far, I think in Quarter three, I think we are in second position and we know our quality we are not dreaming about top eight or seven.
“For us, it is very crucial to be working in the remaining four or five games to get this five points, I would say to get thirty (30) points, you are in despite unbelievable results that are coming in,” said Middendorp.
The German will welcome Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday with each club needing maximum points for their own requirements.
