Mokwena: Least I’m Misinterpreted
Posted: 8 May 2021

Reigning Premier League Champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC Co-Head Coach Rhulani Mokwena recently distanced himself from the “space” of commenting on the technical team duo of Josef Zinnbauer and his assistant Fadlu Davids.

Mokwena, who gave praise to both KwaZulu Natal clubs’ head coaches Benni McCarthy and Mandla Ncikazi of AmaZulu FC and Lamontville Golden Arrows respectively, told The Beautiful Game when asked of the job being done at his boyhood club Orlando Pirates Football Club’s technical team, but rather declined to comment, saying;

“…(Chuckles)…The good thing is that I’m not the Chairman of Orlando Pirates Football Club, I think that is the responsibility that goes to him and…(sighs)…

“Least I am misinterpreted in answering that question Karabo, I think it’s better to move myself slightly away from that. It’s a nice question but I think it’s directed at the wrong person. Emotionally, I don’t want to play in that space so you will excuse me for running away from answering that question Karabo (laughs),” he concluded.

Mokwena has somewhat developed a love-hate relationship with the club of his forefathers and although he is held in high-esteem at Orlando, he purely declined to comment on the job being done by the German and former Maritzburg United mentor Davids.
