Orlando Pirates Football Club were comprehensively beaten 3-0 for the first time at home this season by defending league champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC at the Orlando Stadium yesterday afternoon.

However, the performance of skipper Thulani Tyson Hlatswayo was again the talk of the match as the former Bidvest Wits leader made a serious error. The Beautiful Game asked The Sea Robbers’ Head Coach Josef Zinnbauer of Hlatswayo’s mistakes in recent weeks, and he said to us;

“Uhm…I don’t want to talk a lot about mistakes of my players, we will make this internal. But I can say you know it’s always in a situation where players have bad, bad times and at the start of the season he (referring to Tyson Hlatswayo) was very strong for us.

“He is a leader, he fights and at the moment you see a little bit of unlucky moments from him but he has played a lot of games and he has no break, he has nothing, he is always training well and fighting, he goes forward, he leads the team.

“It’s not so easy as a leader, and he is not alone in the field and he doesn’t just go home after training, he speaks to the young players, he leads the guys, he gives motivation, he gives everyone direction in the team.

“We have to give now maybe a little more time, maybe he can rest, he can recover, and he is a big player, he is a national player, he is a top player,” concluded Zinnbauer.

The German mentor suggested that the club may grant Hlatswayo some time off to cool off before he returns to first team duty.
