Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs FC pulled off a miraculous victory against league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns FC yesterday in the capital to move into the top eight.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys created much better chances in the first stanza but went into the dressing room 1-0 down, and came back to win the encounter 2-1. The Beautiful Game asked Head Coach Gavin Hunt what he told his lads in the locker-room, and he said to us;

“Well I said the most important thing…when Zuma came on, it gives you a different dimension, it’s more a midfielder player coming in for a striker, you know he is more half and half.

“I kept the same shape, because of the personnel that comes on and I just said to them ‘If we create those three or four chances in the second half, and they created one – through individual brilliance, I said we won’t lose the game’

“But you know, it never works like that, I said the same thing this week and we lost the game so. We were always on the ascendency, same like on Wednesday (against Cape Town City FC); we finished strong, we could’ve gotten something out of the game but things happen in football,” concluded Hunt.

The three points moved Chiefs into the top eight ad puts some wind behind them in preparation of their next fixture against Chippa United on Wednesday at home.
