LaLiga South Africa announced a momentous partnership with the world’s leading youth tournament the Iber Cup in glamorous fashion at their headquarters midweek.
The Beautiful Game exclusively spoke to LaLiga South Africa’s Managing Director Marcos Pellegrin, who revealed to us as to when the talks between them and Iber Cup began, saying;
“Well, several months ago, I don’t remember well exactly. But for us as LaLiga, we’ve been looking for this for almost two years I think. We thought there was a need for us to bring our knowledge to the country.
“And also we see that the country is very warm to the idea and we are very happy about it and we’re sure it will help a lot of kids and coaches in South Africa,” concluded Pellegrin.
The Iber Cup has produced footballers who now ply their trade in top football leagues in the world, including the Spanish LaLiga, English Premier League, the German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A to name but a few.
South African football-loving kids will be trained by top youth developmental coaches from Spain and hopefully one day make the grade in the leading league’s globally.
