Zinnbauer: We Were Much Better

Orlando Pirates Football Club dispatched Ah-Ahly Benghazi 3-0 yesterday evening at the Orlando Stadium to come within a whisker of qualification into the last eight of the CAF Confederations Cup.

The club’s mentor, Josef Zinnbauer reflects on the result, saying;

“In this game they had nothing to lose, maybe that was the feeling before, they had a low block and we applied high pressure. In the first minutes we get the control better and better but it was always to put pressure on them.

“Also, I think our attack was very good, I think it was deserved that we won, 100%. It was a team effort today, it was not easy, our target was three points, from minute one and we are happy that we got three points.

The Beautiful Game asked him on the two headed goals that Pirates scored, which is usually not the team’s strength, he said;

“Today it was much much better, the delivery. We have one chance or to score with the set-pieces attack and we had another chance but yeah…the delivery was very good and I thought we could have scored another one,” concluded Zinnbauer.

The Sea Robbers will next face ES Setif at the same turf on the 21st of this month, but before that, they face a stiff encounter against high-flying Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup on Thursday.
