Martins Reflects On Special Milestone
Posted: 8 April 2021
There is a saying that goes “Dreams delayed are not dreams denied”, and that is the story of Cape Townian Craig Martins.
The speedy right-back has had a meteoric rise in the professional set-up ever since signing for The Cityzens as he approaches his 100th appearance for the club this weekend as he reflects, saying;
“For me joining Cape Town City FC has been good, it was my first professional club coming from amateur; I didn’t know how it felt being in a PSL team. That month of trial showed me that I can make it.
“My first man of the match was against Ajax Cape Town (laughs), it was a nice experience being man of the match. It was also my first time being interviewed on TV and the English didn’t come out properly because the nerves kicked in and I was a bit shy. I have loved my time here and still enjoying being at this club,” concluded Martins.
The 27-year-old speedster has been a revelation and recently received his first-ever call up to the national team and will be hoping to put in more solid performances to become a regular for Bafana Bafana.
Martin is expected to make his 100th appearance for Jan-Olde Riekerink’s side against SuperSport United this weekend in the DSTV Premiership.
