Reigning Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns FC returned from a goal down to beat Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila 3-1 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium this afternoon.

The club’s Co-Head Coach, Manqoba Mnqithi gives his reaction to the three points that moves them six points clear of their nearest chasers, Lamontville Golden Arrows, saying;

“We knew that we were playing a very tough opposition, and we knew they are very desperate and they might come at us. We wanted to have a very good start, but it was unfortunate that we couldn’t get an early goal.

“Maybe that goal (the equaliser) helped us to play the normal game that we can play at Sundowns because it helped us lift the intensity which made life a bit difficult for them.

On the return of Sbusiso Vila Vilakazi, he said;

“We are very encouraged to see Vila (Sibusiso Vilakazi) coming back and scoring a goal, and Reeva (Rovaldo Coetzee) scoring that goal in the dying minutes of the first half. We are always focused on getting a victory, we get disappointed when we get a draw, be it a friendly match, be it a practice match, we always want to win,” concluded Mnqithi.

The Brazilians now shift their attention to continental football where they face CR Belouizdad from Algeria, with the game now a formality for Sundowns having qualified for the quarterfinals a couple of weeks ago.
