Cape Town Spurs (formerly Ajax Cape Town) star Abednego Mosiathlaga has been left frustrated by a right abdominal injury that occurred at the start of the 2019/2020 playoffs, subsequently leading to him missing the first four months of this season.

Mosiathlaga, an absolute star on his day, speaks to The Beautiful Game and tells us how difficult a time it has been for him, saying;

“Yeah I think it’s been very difficult because uhm…I wanted to help the team get the results they wanted from a team’s perspective, so it’s been very difficult due to injury.

“So, on a personal level, I think it (the injury) has slowed me down and it has killed the momentum because I would have loved to have continued with the form I had last season. And you come back and the fitness levels are low and physically you’re not in the right condition…yeah, it’s been a bit difficult bro.

The North West-born speedster has now suffered a fresh blow in a form of a concussion against JDR Stars last week Wednesday, where he also scored, unfortunately losing the game 2-1. DJ Hot Chocolate, as he is affectionately known, continued to say to us;

“I think I was on my way to getting back to my normal self and unfortunately I suffered a concussion on Wednesday and again, it’s going to take me three or four days to get back. And even the last game on Wednesday, it’s the first ninety minutes I’ve played this season, I could say I was getting back to my normal self,” concluded a disappointed Mosiathlaga.

The 26-year-old will be hoping to help his club back to winning ways as he resumes full training with the squad sometime this week at Ikamva, Cape Town.
