Dan Dance: Holistic Approach Against Giant Slayers
Posted: 13 March 2021
Chippa United face the Rich Boys of Durban in Richards Bay this afternoon in what looks to be an interesting fixture. Richards Bay have knocked out Kaizer Chiefs and a couple of notable opponents as they set their sights on The Chilli Boys.
Some of the key players for Richards Bay has been Khanyisa Mayo, Paseka Sekese and Victor Bakah, but Dan Dance Malesela Tells The Beautiful Game that he will be approaching the game holistically, saying;
“Your last statement is quite right; we will not be looking at individuals, we will be looking at this team (Richards Bay) holistically. If you start doing that (focusing on key players only), you might as well go and coach them, so I need to stick to coaching Chippa United and focus on what we can do on the day, you know.
“It’s about what we can issue on the day, so we really need to focus on ourselves more than on the opponents. Either than that, it doesn’t matter who is playing, you approach the game with respect, to say this team is not here because of favours or something like that.
“We need to focus on ourselves more, because sometimes you focus on the opposition and when you come to the stadium and those key players are not playing and you say ‘Oh yesses, I’ve assigned this player to mark a particular player and the next thing his not there and you say what do I do now?’ So it’s dangerous for us to do that sometimes,” concluded Malesela.
On paper, the Rich Boys head into this fixture ridiing high on form, but football is never played on paper rather on that green thing we call a football pitch, kickoff is at 15:H30 today.
