Mnqithi Wants AJ To Stay

Mamelodi Sundowns FC walloped GladAfrica Championship side Polokwane City 4-0 in the Nedbank Cup yesterday to progress to the quarterfinals of this year’s edition.
One of Sundowns’ performers on the day was midfield kingpin Andile Jali, whose contract is set to expire at the end of this campaign. The Beautiful Game asked head coach Manqoba Mnqithi of Jali’s cheeky penalty, and he said;
“The penalty that he took, that’s his trademark penalty, he always does that at training, sometimes our goalkeepers can catch them, they normally know the areas that he normally goes to.
When we asked him if he’d like to see the Matatiiele-born star remain beyond this season, he said;
“He is a very important player in the team; it would be sad to lose a player like him in the team because we know what he is capable of; he adds a lot of value in the team, he has the right level of arrogance that you need in a player that must dominate the midfield area.
“He is not scared of anyone, he is always ready for any fight, he has been unlucky because at Sundowns because you might have played well but unfortunately maybe due to injuries and you’re out, you’ll always find yourself out for longer because other players do well. We know what we will get from him and of course we would not like to lose him,” concluded Mnqithi.
Gattuso, as Jali is affectionately known in football, is one of the most confident footballers in this league and would be a travesty to see him walk away from the doors of Chloorkop.
